Well, Americans are proud of being Irish or Puerto Rican etc. so Romney probably thought this would go down well. He's an idiot. What we share with the USA is the fruits of the Civil War and the 1688 Bill of Rights, the Common Law and the English language (the poor sods almost ended up speaking German). The twentieth century victory over tyrrany in the form of fascism and communism is another thing we share.

Oh no, not "race cards" Sandy. Its not like that here, I dont know where you live.

When he used the words, 'Anglo Saxon', did you not hear the unspoken 'white' and 'Protestant' bracketing them?
I'm not saying that his audience here in the UK was racist. The audience in the USA, where the words were directed, might be.
