Anybody know why the Disasters Emergency Committee haven't stepped in with regard to the floods currently being borne by those poor people in the South West ?? Perhaps they don't consider it worthy. Any thoughts ?

It doesn't matter how many people are involved their OUR people and they deserve all the aid we can give them.We send millions abroad to help other nations so how about spending some at home for a change.

I'm sure the situation in the south west is terrible if you live there but it hardly compares to the famines, droughts, Tsunamis and earthquakes that the DEC normally deal with.

Not heard of any loss of life. In 40y of living here Ive never seen our area as saturated as now, and weve only had drizzles.

No matter how small or large, I believe that someone should step in and help these people and I think the DEC should be that body - nobody else is doing much according to the news and press.

As awful as it is, we have villages and farms being evacuated rather than thousands of people in need of rescue.
When you read the details about the Somerset levels, is it any wonder they flood in exceptionally heavy rain?
