All the attempt by North Korea to stop the film 'The Interview' has done is ensure it has gone to the top of the charts. Do others agree?

I suspected that Sony were behind the 'hacking' in an attempt to increase interest in a cruddy film. I still think that it is a possibility.

Life is North Korea must be totally different from the rest of the world. They seem like robots and their leader is just a little boy (a sadistic bully) who enjoys controlling the robots with fear.

Killing him seems a good idea - but which nutter will follow.

More importantly - should I go back to bed and turf Frankie the Tom Cat off it , as a cruel mother? He is like a Labrador in a cat's body - he has just guzzled his breakfast and that of his sister. She doesn't 'do' mornings.

this North Korea leader, clearly a madman to feed his uncle to the dogs, reminds me of a Bond film baddie who wants to rule the world, no doubt sooner or later we will poke our nose in ! must be sheer hell for the people who live there.
Did Sony do it for publicity, the jury is still out on that one.
NK should shoot their fat bully boy leader in the foot !
It's all turning VERY nasty and Fat Boy is sooooo powerful and rules by total fear and domination.
I'm not particularly interested in the film though, but after all the hoo haa, I wouldn't mind seeing it now, even if it's only to poo poo it.
Fat Bully Boys in baby romper suits, should not be allowed to dictate to the west.
I'm with Wolf on this one - Think it was Sony all along to increase the hype... and it worked. You could just see the outcome coming a mile away: Hacked=Top News story globally= chart-topper
Jno, I think it's the on-line sales chart that made it rocket to the top as it played in only a small amount of cinema's:

i doubt that Sony would have released pay figures or embarrassing (to them) emails just to promote a film like this one
... and film scripts (e.g. next Bond film) were also included in the released info
Bibblebub is right: you do realise what the hack entailed I presume?
Release of future scripts, plots etc? All for the sake of a relatively minor film?
Unlikely in the extreme
No publicity is bad publicity in this day and age apparently. Highly unlikely, yes. But possible nonetheless.
Publicity about the plots of your latest blockbusters IS bad publicity. Also, the release of employee details which is some cases led to identity theft.
So while I am sure organisations like Sony are not above imaginative publicity stunts this does not realistically feel like one of them.
Whether it really was North Korea who was responsible was another matter.

"the personal data of 47,000 staff and other workers" were put online - of course Sony are going to do that deliberately and take a chance that they wouldn't be sued for billions of dollars, just to promote a film
ok, fair do's. Most probably not Sony themselves then.
Do you think that it'll ever be proved whom the hackers were? It would be interesting to find out eventually...
What hurdles would they face when investigating the route of the cause?

Peaspeculiars>"Do you think that it'll ever be proved whom the hackers were?"...... and for 'hackers' you could add numerous words [ bombers, terrorists, 'usual suspects' etc ]
