Regardless - Celebration on a mark in History - It won't have happened until the end of the year (hopefully) I did read the OP by the way! I'm not the only one to mention or imply celebrations on your thread.

Do you not feel it will be appropriate to mark the official day? maybe with a commemorative coin or something along those lines?

Some feel they would like to mark the day with celebrations and whilst I understand, I personally won't be celebrating.

No, I dont think its necessary. I can' t recall anything being commemerated when we joined or elected to stay. Be a bit of an anti against Europe to make a big deal of leaving, by issuing coins etc. It's not like the end of a war. We havent won anything.

We never joined the EU, we joined the European Communities. This then became the EU.

The Devil, being of great age, I know all about what we joined and when , and know how different the EU has become from when we joined, and agreed to join! Hence, voting to leave.

Today's Sun has an article saying "Brits" are urging the bells of Big Ben should be rung to mark Brexit. Boris says it will cost £500,000 to prepare the bells to be rung.

In my view this would be a ridiculous waste of money as only Londoners would hear them. If it was to happen it would be far cheaper if the TV companies showed a recording from previous ringing of the bells. The majority of the population wouldn't know the difference.

When the UK, Ireland and Denmark joined the EEC in 1973 a football match was held: The Three versus The Six. The Three won 1-0 with a goal from one of the Danes in the team.
Maybe another football match: the one versus the twenty seven :-)
