Daily case rate slightly down, daily case rate slightly up, 30 more than yesterday, but 100 less than last month on the same day. But 2000 up on this time six months ago, 20 more people in hospital on the same day 3 weeks ago, but 25 less than 4 weeks ago. Testing is down on last week, but kids are on holiday, but still up on 12 months ago. How much longer is this rubbish going to continue. And it seems now people are refusing to go back to work, well if you've been getting paid to stop at home, what did they expect.

Just out of interest, if we have a large amount of people catching flu in the winter, are people going to refuse to go to work, in case they catch it themselves, and will government pay them? Its about time all this crap came to a stop.

yes its not as if people are dying or theres a highly infectious variant, increasing hospital intakes despite higher vaccines and good weather

No, I'm not at work, I'm one of those retired well of people that got accused of wanting the lock downs to continue because I'm alright jack, with my nest egg, but I think you will find its the other way round now. They've run out of excuses for not going back.

Why do you say that, bob? The genie is now well and truly out of the bottle. Thousands of people die from ‘flu every year (apart from the last year when those who would have died from it apparently died from Covid). People now expect the government to keep them safe from infectious respiratory diseases. They expect to be paid to sit at home if they cannot work. They expect to be allowed to work at home even if it means their businesses and their customers suffer shoddy service. Their trade unions demand their members be “kept safe” by allowing employees to take a fortnight off if they are “pinged” by the Covid app. Many of their employers are garnering for a campaign to force their employees to be vaccinated against Covid or they cannot return to work (much to the glee of the employment lawyers). It’s but a short step to insist on all of that for ‘flu as well.

Ahh I misinterpreted TC, but for those can work from home I don't see a problem not rushing back to the office. As for workshy you can't tarnish everyone with the same brush as a retiree you know better I'm sure.

What has shops and cafes got to do with the OP? my cafe is on wheels, and the shops were open air farm produce, if that helps.

Well for sure I didn't have to endure the continual coverage of covid. As I said it needs to stop, we have the one and only tool to combat any virus, the rest is history. Or it should be.

I no longer work in an office and go back to work on Monday, but are lucky to be outside (mostly) it's all the other folk that I feel sorry for that might be trapped inside.
