Madonna (again)
11 Answers
Anyone else think it's disgusting how much she has already spent on her new adopted baby when the same amount could go to the village he is from and help them plant new crops and houses. She's apparently now asking for her fans to make donations to helping the villagers! Bloody ridiculous! But then again, she's Madonna, she can do what the hell she wants...

This isnt madonnas fault (trust em I am no fan), this is ridiculous adoption laws. If this woman had the money tell me she wouldnt do the same, if anyone had the money that wanted to adopt they wouldnt do the same.
I hope her new son doesn't feel less loved because of public perception regarding this.

jno I wasn't suggesting she adopt the whole vilage, I just think it's stupendous to spend so much on things like toy cars and designer clothes for him when that money would be better off going towards helping the people in his village make better lives for themselves. Even more galling is that she asks her fans to donate money to this cause when the actual village she has adopted the baby from probably won't see a penny of her money.
I can't help thinking of Harry Enfield's Wayne & Waynetta - where Waynetta proclaims "I want a brahn baby, just like all the other girls on the estate".
Let's hope that the current batch of adoptions of African kids by the glitterati isn't because such children are just the latest fashion accessory.

well, I suppose I could send all my money to help out the village ... so could you... but I tend to spend money on my family first; you probably do the same; and I guess Madonna is entitled to as well. Easy to say rich people ought to do more than the rest of us to eradicate world poverty, but I don't know that it's true. But I did buy someone a goat last Christmas. Maybe Madonna did too?
I was adopted and have been forever grateful. If she can make one child happy and bring him up to live a happy life then why not .And I think she has pumped money into the village where the child comes from . And why not ask for donations ..it makes people aware of the plight of these people.Just because she is rich doesn't make her less of a caring person than anyone with not much money.
Helliebobs, why do you have a problem with her asking her fans to donate money??
Madonna has already given the village money, and she has reportedly said she will continue to do so. Every concert she does, there is sombre element of dispair at the state of the world today and the huge poverty divides we as humans face, and she suggests ways to help, bringing it to the forefront of peoples minds. She is highlighting the problem and getting people to do something, I don't see the problem?
As jno ststes, I too would spend on my family first and then donate, which is what she has done. I think everyone should leave her alone to bring up this little boy in private. The media should focus on something else.....
