1. Housing....without a hefty inheritance young people are doomed ever to own a property of their own. With a 60% ownership rate and many in hoc to the lenders the remainder have not a hells chance of joining them.
2. Crime...politicians will tell you the crime rate is falling but forget to tell you violent and gun crime is on the increase and matches some American states.
3. Health...a free NHS at the point of use has provided the world's sick with available treatment. The taxpayer is left with picking up the tab.
4. Overcrowding... we are one of the world's most populated countries and through mass unhindered immigartion likely to get swamped putting more pressure on our schools, houses, and hospitals.
Go now!

I agree with kwicky but as far as I'm concerned the overcrowding bit would make me want to go. I live in a semi-rural area fortunately but the roads around here are so crowded - it's like one big car park! The city keeps getting nearer and it's not affordable housing that first time buyers can afford but big executive style places and properties way out of most people's pocket.
There are so may people with 2nd homes too that are forcing younger people out
And yes the violent crime figures and all the political correctness gone mad.

I have lived abroad, in S. Africa, Rhodesia and
Zambia.
In Zambia we had an Escape Club, aiding
expatriates to flee the corruption and political
incompetence.
In S. Africa the levels of crime make the UK look
like the cloister of a cathedral.
Rhodesia was superb. It was God's Country, but
the UK threw it to the wolves. Now it is Zimbabwe.
Nuff sed.
Leave this country, Naomi ? Where would I go ?

Hi naomi,
Its really an anti New Labour tirade, and I think because of them, this country, (England) is on an unstoppable path to nationwide riots, death, detruction, and takeover by an imported religious group, its being allowed to happen, and is actively being encouraged by this goverment, again, I say England, as opposed to what history will record as once the United Kingdom.
I voted for them in '97', worst vote I ever made, hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it.
I realised approx two years after they got in, what their national aims were, the 'Destruction of England', di you know that its now illegal, and has been for a few years, to say, on official forms, that you are English?. thats fact, you can say your Scottish, Welsh, Irish, but not English.
Regional Assemblies, they were voted out, but in fact, they are coming in by the back door, the plan there, (sounds far fetched, but sit back and watch), is to divide England into area's, each area to have its own name, and the name England is to go.
I could carry on, but thats enough for now, loads more if you want it.
I served and fought for this country, and was proud to do it, but not now,
There are a few countries I could go to, would love to, but can't leave, because of my home situation,
Sorry if I sound a bit extreme, but I just feel sick at whats happening.

The difference here is that I'm not grumbling about it.
I bloody love this country.
Of course, as I'm sure you know, it's not illegal to put 'English' as your nationality on official forms. I did it myself two weeks ago on a mortgage application. Not had a visit from the boys in blue so far.
Oh, and I'm sitting back waiting for the Devon & Cornwall Regional Assembly to convene. Wake me up when it happens.
Congratulations for fighting for your country. It's shame that you no longer would. But did you really sign up to uphold an Englishman's form-filling rights and stave off the threat of a Lancashire Parliament?
If they're your biggest gripes then I invite you to go and live in another country for a while and see what gets on your wick there.

Naomi24 asked if I was happy living here.
Not happy, Naomi ; reasonably content better
describes my status. The current political scene
is a bit vile, but it's a 'windmill society', ie. it keeps
going around, and I can wait until the incumbent
political nonnies have had their day, and die.
Meanwhile, it is difficult to think of a stable society
elsewhere, which would occasion no criticism.
Even my beloved Germany has its faults; not least
the relatively extreme climate of Bavaria.
If I could transplant Bavaria into the Costa Blanca,
bless it with France's health service and the
rationality of Singapore's politics, I think I'd be up,
up and away. If only, Naomi, if only........

Sorry naomi, I have to reply to NJOK.
At the last National Census, we were told, if put your nationality as English, you would be fined, another instance, my daughter is handicapped, we had a social worker come round with a form for her details, nationality English, 'sorry, you can't put that', I asked her anout the other nationalities i've mentioned, they would have been okay, I work for London Underground, periodically, to do with equal opportunities, we get forms to fill in, again, the other British nationalities are accepted, English is not, White or Black British is, not English, maybe you could explain why?.
