Hmmm, do you think that the government sohuld compensate all those that were hit by floods the other week?
If so, what is the point of paying insurance?

I think a fund should be set up for food, clothes, temporary housing, and for those without insurance, thats it.

Problem is, the floods are classed as an act of God, and a lot of companies don't insure against that, and those that do, the premiums are sky high.
I think that everyone, insured or not should get some help with the basics - making their homes habitable - and for essentials like cookers. But after that then they should be responsible for replacing their televisions, sound systems and any other non-essentials. If they have insurance then they should have no problem but if not I'm afraid that's their faults. I have heard people say that they could not get insurance because their homes were on a flood plain but it seems odd that other people living in the same area did get insurance.
we help enough foreigners so why not help our own for a change?
stokeace, kind of agree with you, sorry. Not the bit about helping foreigners as if that was something undesirable, but the bit about helping people in need in this country.
thanx ruby i didnt mean to be derogative of us helping foreigners but its not very often us brits need a bit of help is it?
