Ever felt like you were powerless, ever felt like you wanted to take the law into your own hands to regain control of your streets, your neighborhood,your town. Are you sick of ethnic gangs,drug dealers and the mobs of mindless morons who create virtual no go zones in towns and cities? The law does n`t seem to be able or willing to tackle the problem. I hesitate to use the word vigilante as you then set yourself up as judge, jury and executioner ,but if ordinary people don`t act soon we`ll all become prisoners in our own homes!

What if this post is based on what is actually happening in claymores town? . You are assuming that this is just a reaction to media reports.
I used to live in Oldham. I can tell you that although the authorities deny it, there are a lot of "no-go areas". I know because I lived there. We do not live there any more. If you are in this situation claymore I sympathise with you. Do not expect any help from the authorities. They will deny that the problems exist. Because of PC their hands are tied. Anyone in a position of authority is afraid to speak out because of fears of being branded a racist. Only this week the do gooders are up in arms about a harmless device that discourages yobs from congregating. Sod the human rights of these troublemakers. What about the rights of ordinary decent people?

As the police seem powerless to act we should do what countries such as Pakistan do to prevent civil disobedience and that is to use the armed forces. The UK is not far away from an ungovernable state.

In the case of Yobbish behaviour .If an attack or threat to
a neighbour was seen as an a attack on the comunity and
came out in force instead of hiding behind curtains,
perhaps a message may get home. It has been done.

Chairobyx16.........You do have a point about neighbours getting together to tackle yobbish behaviour. Good idea, I had never thought of that. rather like a neighbourhood watch scheme. Neighbours could alert one another if something is going on. There is safety in numbers, and if they are confronted by more than just one individual, the yobs will think twice. It would have to be thought out thoroughly. there is always the danger that it could turn into some sort of vigilante group.

Here Here to tackling yobbish behaviour, , there is not much that comes out of India I would embrace BUT thrashing yobs and low lifes with big sticks is a winner in my book .... the yobs are still the minority , take back the power and let the majority rule.

Set up some really active street Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in your area and encourage your neighbours to be more active in reporting issues to the police. Collectively make yourselves a real pain in their backsides. Somebody has to take the initiative. It there are problems in your area, maybe it has to be you !

Everyone has seen the usual Western where the town has a very weak Sheriff and the gangs run the town.

We are not far from this situation.

I think on many council estates it can be like living in a warzone, where people are confined to their homes for fear of attack.

It is very annoying the Government are in denial that violent crime and drugs related crimes are on the increase. Most politicians live in the safety of wealthy neighbourhoods so will never experience the nastier sides of society.

Maybe Claymore you should take the first steps and speak to someone in authority, I don't really know who, but maybe consider starting a community neighbourhood forum, with the support of police, where all residents can get together to discuss how to tackle crime in your locality.

I have recently felt more strongly in my british idenity than ever before. I live up north and honestly he's right. Some places in wakefield are no-go zones, simply because their populated by ethnic groups. I am NOT racist but if youve ever walked down those no go areas at night you feel very vunreable. People eyeing you up, the odd gang lurking dealing drugs, it gets worse when you see knives...

Im 22 and already i feel parts of britain are literally getting lost. I know areas in dewsbury and Bradford like this. fact is, this is becoming a problem. i feel confined almost, and it gets me angry to think this is my country.

This is NOT multiculturalism, this is segregation. Not by force, but almost by nature. If i was an asian guy coming to the UK for whatever reason, in fairness i would do the same, live in an area where people are likley to speak my own language...

things get more complicated - the lack of churches and increasing number of mosques are almost, to be honest scary. concidering the "war on terrorism" - you just dont know what their talking about...and again honestly it scares me. I really do believe that one day it will erupt. The more immigrants come into this country, the more segrgated areas will become, the more british people will feel like their identity is deminished, and that in itself will manifest itself into something brutal.

I dont wanna take the law into my own hand. I dont wanna kill or imprision anyone. But i do feel very strongly and very angry at these P.C people. These f*****s who think they can try and get us to call things like christmas lights to "winter lights" and christmas cards to "winter cards" is madness. Just so we dont offend the ethnic groups. AHHHHH! it makes me angry just thinking about it. In case any government or council forgot....

If I was in a position of power, I would ban the use of people saying the phrase "I am not racist but...". How about you just say what you want to say and I'll make my own mind up thanks!

What I can never get my head around is that how come immigration/multiculturalism is such a big problem for the UK? Given our geographical location, how much of a soft touch are we considering what some people go through to smuggle themselves into the country? We must be the laughing stock of Europe.

A school mate of mine lives on a small council estate. For years he and his mother have lived with threats here and there. The young kids that pelted rocks at his cats are now older and the instigators of the threats, in addition to their parents, who drive shiny cars. They're not fiddling the state are they.

A rather curious post this one.
I live in the North (no kidding!) and I work with the public in all their shapes, sizes and incomes I have done all my adult life (and for most of my teens) I deal roughly with about 300 to 500 people a day and have done for over 18 years. I'll tell you staight without fear of contradiction in the 18 years I've been in this job I have only seen 2 blacks try to bunk on and I've had to get out once to a load more at Picton Clock when their school had let out. It was'nt the brown faced kids who I decided to take the long way home to avoid im my local park when 15 to 20 of them were stood around drinking smashing bottles and brazenly carrying sticks and bats. Maybe they were Polish.
I often hear people talk about what Islam is doing to our country and what Isalm means to them, I even see a post about the lack of churches, when was the last time you went to church? If you want to protect the traditional Christian(?) values of this nation, then you should start by being better Christians.

I live in Eastbourne. You don't hang around when the bingo halls are turning out.

To be serious, even Eastbourne has its chavs and other anti-social types, mainly in the Shinewater "hood" (why do the worst areas often have the nicest names?) and the area around Seaside Road (despite its name, not actually on the seafront), but its certainly not a huge problem. I couldn't imagine living in a place where you felt that you couldn't dare walk into a certain area, and I really feel for those who do. Any drug crime reported in the local paper here always seems to have happened in a private house and our only "gangs" are a few teenage wallies with too easy access to cheap cider.

Incidently, these wally gangs are pretty much exclusively white. Our black and Asian populations are tiny, our only sizeable ethnic community is Eastern European and, as in most towns, this is dwindling as they go back home, disillusioned that Britain is not the promised land they thought. Would we have more trouble if we had a higher ethnic population? Maybe I'm naive, but I'm not convinced.
