Postal voting secrecy

With election posters apprearing all over the place - Vote for x; Vote for y; etc., a neighbour tells me that the elected candidate can have access to postal votes and can see how his/her constituents voted. Anyone know if this is true?

Candidates are always entitled to see ballot forms in order to check that they've been counted correctly. However no ballot form shows the name of the voter. It simply shows the number of that form.

As with all ballot forms, a record is kept as to whom that ballot form was allocated to. The list of voters' ballot form numbers is sealed and not available for anyone to access unless an election court makes an order for the seal to be broken. (The last time that happened after a general election was in 1911). The sealed lists are destroyed after one year.
