Hardly a day goes by when we don't hear something about enormous bonuses, or top dogs being paid millions of pounds. What on earth do they do with it - does anybody know? What would you do with such huge sums of money?

I go along with the idea of putting money to good causes, but we seldom hear what people who receive huge bonuses and get paid millions of pounds actually do with it. I for one would feel better about it if we knew.
I would think we don't hear what they do with their millions because they don't want us to. Very few of them indulge in philanthropy.
I would spend half of it on wine, women and song; one quarter on fast cars. The rest I would just fritter away.
If I had millions, I'd probably become a minister and fiddle myself a few extra thousand - oh, but that's already been done.
It would be nice to have enough to pay off the mortgage and not have to worry about bills - then I could retire and OH wouldn't have to worry about getting enough work! - but people who get massive bonuses usually have spending plans which match their income (as - to be honest - do most of us).
The stock answer seems to involve giving money to charity, or helping others.

In reality, when people receive big sums of money ... all of a sudden ...

... that doesn't happen !!

Odd that.

£10m lottery winners never say ... "I'm happy with £5m, so I'll give half to charity"

IT DOESN'T HAPPEN !

City bankers who get £2m bonuses don't take the opportunity to help the needy.

IT DOESN'T HAPPEN !

I send monthly payments to five charities and, if I have a good night at the Casino, I let them have it.

But if I won £10m on the Lottery (unlikely, as I never buy a ticket), the only people who got a decent share of it would be my close friends.

Why do we have to pretend that we would give so much to charity?

If we are so concerned about charities, here's a tip guys ...

STOP BUYING LOTTERY TICKETS, AND GIVE THE MONEY TO CHARITY INSTEAD!

Duuhh !!!
One of the biggest problems would be choosing which charities to support. Unfortunately some are bogus, others are badly run, others have little left after paying their executives, and like some aid programmes much of the the money buys Bentleys for the government rather than going to the people who need it. So how does one chooose ?

I always support the Salvation Army because I experienced their help in my army days. I also help animal charities and dogs for the blind and deaf. They are genuine and you can see the results.
