Today Theresa May steps down as PM.

The next PM will be chosen by a handful of unrepresentative Tory party members.

After this, should the new PM call a general election?

The Tory party is destroying itself: you have Raab saying he’d try to suspend parliament and the Peterborough Tory demanding the party deselect and MP who didn’t support “No Deal”. This is the sort of stuff even UKIP would not have dared come out with in the past.

I have no doubt JC is a decent person, but not PM material .
Question Author
He's just one of a bunch. Not many of them are PM material.
Question Author
There is no chance JC will be leader. GE or not. Labour are done. They had their movement, now it's settled. People would vote Libs over Labour if they had any sense.
//He's [Corbyn] a fine man. //

He's a throwback - an old hippie living in Cloud Cuckoo Land. A disgrace to his office, to his party and to this country. What does he ever to that's 'fine'?
Question Author
He is an activist for peace, Naomi. He's fine.
Indeed he is - and one who wouldn't defend this country in times of need. He's an idiot.
//He is an activist for peace, Naomi. He's fine.//

Ha. So was Neville Chamberlain. Also naive.
Question Author
well it's a good job we're not living in the 30's isn't it.

Naomi, what are you refering to?
Question Author
If you listen to what Corbyn said, it's actually correct.

He would have to think it through, and he'd prefer for it not to be first use.

Anyhow doesn't NATO protect us from such things?

Nothing in that video or article implies Jeremy hasn't defened his own country or wouldn't.

It's all situational and until the situation arises it's all well saying yes nuke them to save us but they're just words. Corbyn tells it as he see's it. Doesn't just say things to get people in the mood.
Question Author
I just think with Trident in place and NATO, saying "yes we'll nuke them if there is any kind of threat" is very naive and stupid.
Well if there was an election, this would be the first time in my life not having a clue who to vote for.
Question Author
"I'll decide on the circumstances at the time"

Yes, fair play.

//"I'll decide on the circumstances at the time" //

that's a bit autocratic isn't it? whatever happened to "parliament will decide..."?
Question Author
When he said that, i took it as he meant.. "I'll decide where i stand on individual cases at the time". Not.. "I'll personally decide on my own if and when to fire a nuke".
A General election would be good as would getting rid of Jeremy Corbyn before hand. If we had Keir Starmer in charge of the Labour Party we'd walk the next General election. Time for a cull all around.
Question Author
People talk about Corbyn as if he's a threat or has any kind of power. He isn't and he doesn't. There are more important people to get out of politics rather than Jeremy Corbyn. It's a band wagon people need to get off.
It may decide itself to change the face of British politics - look at all the MPs who have voted against Brexit when their constituency wants it.
The thing is if you want the Tories out Spath you also have to remove Jeremy Corbyn because he's not electable and palatable to the undecideds who at this juncture are the ones who could swing a Labour GE win, so he's collateral damage if you like, plus he's proved himself to be ineffectual as a leader and to be turning blind eyes to issues within the party.
