I can think of nobody Gordon Brown would like to face at a general election more than Norman Tebbit (possible exception of Boris Johnson)
He's 76 now, if he won he'd be the oldest person to be appointed for a first term ever
The Tory faithful would cheer him from the roof-tops and then wander about after the election wondering why they got decimated at the polls.
It never ceases to amaze me how the party faithful on all sides so often seem to think you can win an election by preaching to the choir. "Michael Foot syndrome"
To win you have to appeal to a wide spectrum of the country and you don't need a 500,000 spin doctor to tell you that is something that Norman Tebbit could never do.

The latest spin is that Cameron is no longer aspiring to be the new Tony Blair, but the new Margaret Thatcher.

Unfortunately its the world we live in now. Policy dosent even matter any more. We live in a time where the greatest personal power is celebrity for gods sake, More people take notice when Robbie Williams has something to say than Brown & Cameron put together. He's only doing what Blair did before him, The one thing Tony Blair has to be given credit for was his ability to realise that the political message didnt matter anymore, it was the way it was put across. Get used to it folks our leaders will never again be the people with the best ideals or the best true intentions (not that it was ever that simple). We will get the best actors with the best spin.
