What is Gordon Brown always chewing on when he is speaking? Is it chewing gum,a mint? I was told it was rude to eat while you are talking.

He's been trained to speak slowly and pause for effect and to gather his thoughts. Some people say 'er' or 'you know' in these pauses, others smile- he just swallows or bites his tongue to force himself to pause

He's not chewing on anything, he's got a nervous twitch.......probably everytime he tells a lie!
Rory Bremner does it best.
Eating his words, perhaps? Or humble pie?
