Late people......
Elizabeth Taylor apparently ordered that her funeral should start at least 15 minutes after the published time in order to fulfill her wish to be late for her own funeral On that note she was obviously what I call a "late person" ie late for everything. As the complete opposite myself I've often wondered why some people are always late and how disorganised their lives must be. So can the punctually challenged have a go at enlightening me, thanks!

There is no excuse in my mind and it seems to be the same people........e.g Shirley Williams MP for Formby ( I think) Liberal, always rushing around late, dishevelled and disorganised. The barrister in Silk ( the female one) always late, looks a mess, but always wins her cases.
I have no time for people who are late for appointments and unless they have a good reason, always get pushed to the end of the queue.

My daughter is habitually late for everything, leading to much shouting from me.
She once took 30 minutes after telling me it would be 5, the reason she said was she thought it would take 5 even though she was, obviously, 30 minutes away.
She does it to friends, I overhear her on the phone making ridiculous time related claims, like "i'll be there in a quarter of an hour" when she still has to get dressed and when I say it to her she says "I will" and she means it.

I'm almost paranoid about being late! I was only ever once late for a meeting, the train I was on was delayed for 1 hour and 20 mins, - that went well past my 'be at least 20 mins early and have a walk-about till time' cushion, I dashed in, garbled my apology and found out that the person I'd got to meet with was on the same train as me!
I've seen my hubby and I sit in the car around the corner from where we'd got to be because we've started out way too early! But then we'd both rather get there early and hang about, than be late and have a panic.

I once went away on a business trip to San Francisco with another guy. We agreed that the next day, a Saturday, we would walk round San Francisco.
I woke early about 8am due to time zones differences so got up and went for a short walk on my own.
Got back to the hotel and knocked on his door about 9am and he said he was not ready.
Went for a longer walk on my own, and got back to the hotel about 10:30am, and he still was not ready.
Went for an another walk on my own, and went to his room about 11:30, knocked on his door, and he let me in and he was still in his pyjamas.
We eventually went out for our walk about 12:30.
To this day I was wonder what he was doing all morning.

We have a couple of friends who we go out with once a month or so. One is (annoyingly) early and the other is annoyingly late.
So if we want them to arrive at 8pm, generally we say to one to arrive at 7.45 and the other at 8.15.
The habitual late one picked up on what we were doing, so now we get her to meet us 1/2 an hour 'early' :)

I'd rather chew my own foot off than be late.
I've got a mate who was late for everything - if we arranged to meet in the pub I'd suggest a time 15 minutes before I'd be there in the hope he'd be there on time. Didn't work.
In the end I told him if he was late I'd leave - after doing this a few times he started to turn up at the specified time.
Other than for genuine reasons, there is no excuse to be late. It is bad manners and shows disrespect for the person they are meeting.
