Was that for me Pixi?
First off, I own own house outright. I owed over £80,000 where I was, but had over £130,000 in equity, so I ended up selling up to avoid debt and moving miles away where I could buy outright.
I wasn't entitled to anything when I left my job because I got a payout above the benefit limit (which is fair enough) and I didn't try to claim anything pending the move BECAUSE I wasn't actually looking for work until I moved.
Once here I realised I was still iffy on my pins, and chances are if I got a job I wouldn't be able to keep it, so I have just been supporting myself on the cash remaining. I tried to get council tax benefit, but they said I had to claim jobseeekers. I tried to claim jobseekers, but as I'm limited to what I can physically do, they said I had to get ESA. I tried to get ESA, but with no recent medical confirmation that I have problems - despite going through their assessments prior to medical retirement - I can't do that either. Hence I have now, having moved, got to go through various medical procedures in order to get to the first stage.
I wouldn't mind, I don't want to claim "claim" if you get my meaning - I just want to get what I am entitled to prior to getting, and maybe with official help, a job I can do and keep.
