standard stuff for savages I'm afraid. The problem is that more people might inform if plod was more careful, ie some c0ckup lets this sort of slime walk and then commit atrocities on informants for revenge. QED the Acourt etc lot over the lawrence murder, they let a list of people "helping with enquiries" fall into the wrong hands for example.

"No-one likes a rat. Remember the police are not your friend."

Poor grammar! (Though I suppose that is to be expected).

"it could be difficult for officers to track down those behind it"

How difficult is it to find where the site is hosted, demand that they tell who is paying for it and then track them down?
"How difficult is it to find where the site is hosted, demand that they tell who is paying for it and then track them down?"

If the sites hosted pretty much anywhere outside the UK next to impossible.
and what could be done if they were tracked down? Is it an offense to say such things?
It's simple intimidation, in the rough parts near me you see 'so and so is a grass' sprayed over walls, that's a battle I can't see the police ever winning and one of the main reasons many crimes go without any witnesses.
It is very easy to be brave sat behind a computer screen.

Bush's famous phrase: "You are either with us or you are one of the enemy' rings true in this part of London. It shows the difficult job the police are facing up to.
