A rumour going round says this is what happened. To position a large compound near to a military establishment smells of a conspiracy if not from the Pakistani government but someone in a high place. Do you agree with this rumour?

No I don't think it is a rumour at all, I think it a plain and simple fact that he's been allowed to build the thing there under their noses and without their interference.
already there are rumours and conspiracy theories, of which this is only one.

how do we know that bin laden was killed in yesterday's operation? we only have obama's word for that, and he could be spinning a smokescreen to detract from the rumour that he's not an american...

Yes Mushroom, the idea that he was not killed after all is another theory. Even the Taliban says it was not him, but they would say that as they wan't to keep al qaeda going.

To bury him at sea seemed a bit premature before his real identity could be established by DNA. Photographs prove nothing as he could have a double like Gaddafi used recently when touring round in an open topped car.
They said they didn't know anything about it, who was living there - but the US plan to find him was detailed briefly on the BBC News, they had spend many months making sure it was him. The Pakistanis then allowed US to come into their air space to take him out. The commentator said UShad undertaken DNA testing on the body and it was him.
^that should be US had (in case you ask who Ushad is)
Didn't Pakistan whinge about Cameron accusing them of 'looking both ways'.....USA have now proved Cameron correct.

This is going to run and run. I'm surprised the US authorities could not see this coming.

Boxtops I believe you can take a DNA sample quite quickly but it takes times to intepret the results. To have these results within a few hours beggars belief.
it has now been announced that DNA testing has proved 99.9% positive that Bin Laden was killed at Abbottabad.

hmm. and there was me thinking that it was only on CSI that you could get test results back that quickly.....
I'll go along with this rumour....but only until I can start a better one of my own
I agree with dotty. All scary stuff :-(

Never mind the rumour. I am just glad that I am not travelling on the tube at the moment. Or on a London Bus, or flying anywhere......

Hang on a minute let's get this in perspective, what's unusual about building a compound if you are a wealthy member of pakistani society? Nothing.
Once that secure compound is built, who the hell is going to know whose living inside it?
No-one.
I imagine he could have been living in equal anonymity in any one of the gated country houses here and no-one wold have been the wiser. Govts aren't psychic you know.
Eddie - though surely the Pakistani someones gave the Americans permission to overfly their air space to make the attack? - otherwise wouldn't the helicopters have been shot out of the sky?

and apparently they are removing a mountain of paperwork.....wonder whats in all of that and I bet it isn't family postcards.

Rather glad that I am out of the London area as there is a rumour that one of the spin-off groups from Al Qaeda is sitting on a dirty bomb targeted for a major capital.......
yes Zebadee that is the case but no injuries for the Americans.....apparently
