An inappropriate remark, but 'Racial Abuse'? I don't really think so.

We do not know what prompted this elderly gentleman to make this remark, but we do know he could have worded it better.

A small proportion of children (from whatever tribe) behave badly in supermarkets and other establishments, without any redress from their parents.

Surely if Ms Husain had a grievance with the 'elderly gentleman' she could have taken it up with him personally, without the need to play the 'Race Card', involve the supermarket's manager or posting it on Twitter?

Totally agree with you, AOG. This woman was told to control her children, who were obviously playing up, she didn't like being told what to do... So pulled out the "racist" card. Going to the store manager is just pathetic. If you have an issue with someone, just confront them there and then. The store manager can't do anything about what one shopper says to...

So thank goodness for that then.
The most life-affirming thing about this thread is how many people can see that these comments are from an old bigot, and are right in pointing what he said up as being a product of his racist old mind.

On a serious point, as he has gone out of his way to be insulting to Ms Husain, what she SHOULD have done is (in a loud voice) say - "Thank you for your advice...and in return, can I point out the adult incontinence pants have been moved to aisle four."
sara, not going til 7, family only type thing in the day

Look for another word sp you have used that to a self-destruct point, just as you and others have with the word racist.

/// "Thank you for your advice...and in return, can I point out the adult incontinence pants have been moved to aisle four." ///

How dare you call him a racist, when you yourself makes not only a ageist remark, but also a direct insult on certain persons who are unfortunate enough to suffer from a medical problem, that requires the use these products also.

Sir, you utterly disgust me, and if in the future you also have need of these products, then perhaps you will remember your own disgusting remark.

Certainly, welcome aboard.

We have need of persons who are individuals in their own right and who are prepared to speak their minds, in what is supposed to be a free country, without the fear of not following the flock.
well then i'm reporting her , for gossiping on a news thread....

Very few people have the courage to stand by their beliefs, much easier to muffle their voices and let the PC brigade ride roughshod.

lol ...... he doesn't stand by his beliefs though.
Old bigots are irritating oxygene theives.

They have the audacity to spread racist remarks and then for no reason whatsoever, pee themselves in public.

They appall decent members of society.
and to add insult to injury - they take MY hard earned taxes to spend on cat litter and lottery tickets!

They should be on their knees, thanking me - it's only my taxes which pays for their home help (seeing as their kids have abandoned them because they cannot have them around their houses in case they insult their black or Asian friends).

Old bigots suck.

Everyone knows that.

No, plenty of time, he is coming round to my place, feel free to pop in, croquet on the Camomile lawn after.

I have put the St George's Cross flag out already.

Pity we will have to drink (Indian) Tea though, didn't realise one could buy (English) tea.
