I'm not criticizing anyone who moves to improve their lot. It takes a lot of gumption to uproot yourself from all that you know and start again in a foreign country.
I have a Polish neighbour who worked for a few years in the building trade. Now that that work has dried up here he's advertising for painting + decorating jobs, gardening, and at night delivers for a kebab place.

apart from the doctors and nurses, they are NHS trained, but who pays for their training, their country of origin?
us? or do they do menial jobs while studying?

A foreign nurse would train in his or her own country and then come here for the better wages. A doctor who trained here would need to be funded by his own government or a rich family.

Doctors and nurses who come to work in the NHS have had their training paid by the country of origin, but they then come to work in the NHS and are paid by the NHS.....which seems quite reasonable to me.

Morning. I'd just like to point out that any immigrant is likely to be "harder working" etc etc than any native population - based on the fact they were willing to leave their country of origin for a better life. I am certain there are plenty of lazy people in Poland still - very rarely will someone pick up their whole life and move it somewhere else with the intention of being lazy!

in the good old days employment offices were open late each week day and open on a saturday morning. some even stayed open till 10-30pm 11pm on match days hoping that some of the football fans would see the ad and visit the office

in this day and age a big chain store opened a new oulet and over 4000 people applied to stack shelves and man the tills. they asked the local job centre to take the advert for jobs down and not to let anymore apply in less than 24 hours
