Is this the way Britain's increasing overseas aid is spent?

/// The Coalition defended the spending, saying that more than one billion people in developing countries have a mobile but do not have a bank account. ///

I have news for them, millions of people in the UK, neither have a mobile or a bank account.

Wheels within wheels eh?
<<If the Coalition is so keen to fund some long term benefits for the UK it might start by looking a little closer to home. >>

Well New Judge

as Overseas Aid is only 2% of our £700 billion (or whatever it is today) budget - how would you plan to make major improvements in areas funded by the other 98% with your reallocation of those massive resources?
.
What to do with £14bn?

Restore the paratroops “jumping” allowance (£4m).

Fund 5,000 more police officers (£250m)

Build a dozen new schools (£24m)

Fund 240 teachers to teach in them (£12m)

Build three new prisons (£3bn)

Er, I don’t think I’ve quite reached half the sum yet, but I’m sure there's one or two other things we we're told we "cannot afford" if you get my drift.

Fair point and a good list.
Andrew Mitchell has a distorted way at seeing foreign aid. He thinks the more money we dish out abroad stops them from coming here in the first place.

Maybe he is waiting for the update in exit visas so the impoverished immigrants living 10 to a room can go home and enjoy the luxuries there.
Well at least they will be able to open a bank account and operate it by mobile phone, rov!
