Should the government go with the 50% turnout idea?

It seems that these latest strikes by the Public sector would probably have been illegal under the 50% rule. What can possibly be achieved by these strikes? They'll alienate millions and have no effect on policy. Is this just the Unions attention seeking?

I find it incredible the sweeping statements that are continually made toward workers in the public sector, so much hatred and ignorance. There are thousands of different jobs within it and loads of different pay grades. I have worked in the Public sector for nearly 23 years and am fed up of constantly being accused that i have it easy and a cushy number by people who dont know what they are talking about other than the garbage that they read about in the papers. The average Public sector pension is around £7000 hardly a kings ransom now, oh and yes we do contribute towards it as well.
Unfortunately i wont be striking on the proposed day as its the very same day that they close my Office and i will be losing my job, a few less lazy public sector workers for you to attack eh.

With all the furor of the public sector pensions, i havent seen one...not a single story about MP's and ministers having a pension review, are they going to follow the example they expect public sector workers to adhere to...of course not! Lets not forget for one minute that these individuals are in the majority going to get gold plated pensions well in excess of the £100000 figure bandied about , but as if that wasnt enough so they had to fiddle their expenses as well as they are so greedy. You can be assured when it comes to their pension affairs they will all pull together to ensure their dirty little secrets will remain so. Smacks of hypocracy when you look at it that way doesn't it.
