somalia jails Britons and one American
for illegally taking money into the country to pay ransoms, for crews, ships caught by the Somalian pirates. The sentences are harsh, fifteen years i believe, it was just on my radio, so didn't catch it all, but its also on Sky news, adding that if the people in jail will pay 10,000 dollars, or more, then the Somalian government or what passes for one, will see how they can effect their release. Perhaps the British government will get them out, seeing as how they left that poor couple for a year.

I am not sure, but my guess is the government took it, sounds like more corruption, it doesn't look like an isolated incident either. Others have done the same, trying to pay off money so they can get the ships and as important crew out of this place, i still can't understand why this happens, i mean a handful of somali pirates, yes they are armed but look at the size of the ships they hold to ransom. I have seen some footage which i should imagine did the rounds on the net, of how the russians dealt with one group of pirates, and it wasn't pretty.
