Dharfur.

Why is it that President Blair seems to think that the British Govt. have a moral obligation to support Dharfur. Did we assist in making it what it is like today. Or is he just saying this like a lot of other things he says because he thinks it makes him look good bearing in mind the impending election.

Thee is no such person as President Blair, Ihe is the Prime Minister (although I'm sure he would like to be called president!)
We may not have an obligation to help or support the people of Dharfur BUT surely we have a moral duty to help those in such dreadful situations wherever they be.
Personally I'm not sure that anything can make him look good.

Well we have no duty to Darfur as we (and the Egyptians) were booted out of teh Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in around 1959.

over the last five hundred eyars Darfur has been used as a source of slaves for the slave trade - run mainly in the Sudan by the muslims - and so basically things havent changed.

You're not sugesting we go into Darfur and er liberate it are you?
