AOG, if you only see the negative in that I'd be worried! Are you really that bitter that you can't just accept that a fella's helping a young lady with her bag through some mud? If I saw a man struggling I'd see if he wanted a hand, to most decent people it's second nature, you have to be seriously warped to try and suggest he's doing something wrong!
35 years ago and referring tho that particular picture, I would have said that he was being "gallant"
Today....I honestly can't answer that question. The word "gallant " seems to have disappeared in the modern idiom and the word "patronising"seems to have taken it's place and as Brenden said....many females would call it patronising, so, sorry I unfortunately cannot answer that question.

It seems only Brenden and Sqad have actually thought this one out, and have been intelligent enough to interpret the real reason for my post.
