Reasonable force has been part of our law for a very long time. Tony Martin is mentioned in the Express article - I suspect where he went wrong was shooting the fleeing burglar in the back and then leaving him to bleed to death. This is not licence to beat the living daylights of a burglar and I cannot see how things are really going to change.
give them a gud kicking, when i was 8 months pregnant last year, i burgled whilst i was in the house, i live in leicester my husband was working in york. i phoned the police then my husband, guess who got here first, the police said they couldnt send a officer as the burglars were still on scene and wasnt safe.
victims of crime have been long overlooked, its time that someone made it clear that we won't put up with it anymore. I would have twanged the little toerag that did it, the uniformed policeman who turned up 12 hours later, looked about 12, and said there was nothing he could do. The detective who did surface two days later wasn't any more help, we were just another in a long line of burglaries that day, thanks
