What's wrong in politics now, is that many of them have never held down a job, worked in an office, factory, bookstore, whatever, but go straight from University, to political dogsbody then up the greasy pole, so no perspective on real life, if like Ed Miliband, you come from a heavily politicised family, what else are you going to do with your life, politics, thats it.

rich47, if Scotland gets its independence, you can have your own tax system, then we can build up Hadrians wall, so no stray kilted men are left behind, and when that's done, all your Scottish MP's are out of our English Parliament, all your students can go to St Andrews, or similar, and leave Oxbridge alone, i won't have to endure the endless bleating of Scottish friends, as to how they lost a battle or two to the bloody English, as to your haggis, well i like that, so might stick some in the freezer, does it freeze?
children up chimneys, well i never, as to scargie and and his band of not so merry men, are still at it, not letting go of the past, strikes will come and strikes will go, but at the end of the day, people including those that do it, will get fed up, back off, make a deal, who knows half the time what they actually want. Milliband is not the leader of the Labour Party, he is holding the door open for someone who knows what they are doing, no one so far.
You guys really need to remember who is actually sovereign in this land ...the people...no one is a subject... no one will be reigned over ....the people are sovereign and will decide. Perhaps you all ned a lesson from the French.
Career politicians are an invention of the 70's and none of them have any ambition except for themselves.
Right, left or central their bias is totally personal with no concern for future generations.

I will probably be carrying his cases by then, but i'm looking forward to the peace and quiet. I love Scotland, visited numerous times, and always found the people in Scotland friendly, helpful and liked a dram or two, the only problem is when they are here. Never met people that liked to bang the drum about how wonderful the place is, yet don't live there, like your lovely Sean Connery. x
i always liked him as Bond, but i was being a tad sarky, But i have known so many scots who do nothing but say how great is it, yet live in England, most good natured but oh the arguments about the battles, hundreds of years ago, which i didn't have anything to do with, but as said nice people when in Scotland.
Does it ever cross you mind, Em, to wonder WHY the Scots living in England are there? Nine times out of ten, it is probably as a result of either work or relationships. For example, a Scottish doctor may see an advert for the perfect hospital post in Norwich, so what do you suppose he's likely to do? A Jock marine marries an English girl in Deal and, when his service days are done, she wants to return to her roots, so he accompanies her. Need I go on?
And it is, of course, utter nonsense for you to claim they "do nothing but say how great Scotland is." And even if they did, you seem to agree with them!
