At the risk of being called a racist (but that is nothing new), we hear of an increasing number of Nigerians coming to this country are either criminals before they come or turn to crime while in the UK.

We have enough of our own criminals, and those that we have to accept from the EU, but why do we have to accept more into our country from such places as Nigeria?

It probably doesn't say "Criminal" in the column marked 'Occupation' on their passports........and they probably haven't responded 'to indulge in criminal activity' when asked the reasons they have come to this country...

Is there any way that it can be checked ?

And if it can and the person comes here claiming asylum then no doubt the European court of human rights woudl ensure they can stay.

We should get out of Europe and anything to do with it.
Glad to see you have eschewed using any broad generalisations in your answer, VHG.
unless Mystic Meg is now working for Immigration then the reason we'd accept people who may go on to become criminalsis because we don't know it's going to happen!
I know you think you know it'll happen because of a 'certain tell-tale sign' let's call it, but making such decisions is unlawful as well as just plain incorrect.

Still have not answered the question,

'Why do we accept them'

After all unlike an EU resident, we have no legal obligation to accept them into our country.

They are after all mainly 'economic refugees', and if they are 'at risk in their own country' then Britain is not the next 'safe country' surely?
There are numerous reasons that people from former 'colonies' around the world come to Mother England....

Do you have any details when we accepted him? Was he a known criminal in Nigeria? How long has he been here?
he would need to fiddle his benefits to pay for the 74 driving tests
I bet he's had Legal Aid costing thousands for the court case...

Some people have to think in 'binary terms' in order to make sense of the world.

Technically, it's not their fault.
for some reason though a large number of Nigerians are a problem. we see it in internet scams and variousl other finacial fiddles. I know a guy from Nigeria, he himself is one of the nicest law abiding, religious (Christian) chaps you could meet, though even he says some of his fellow countrymen let him down.
AOG. They may have very well asked themselves the same question during the 19th C
No relation of that woman NHS tourist who had 5 babies delivered or are all Nigerians like that taking us for mugs?

rov, the population of Nigeria is only just over 150m so I suppose it's fair to tar every one of them with the same brush eh!
I can't answer why we accept them, but obviously they come here because they know what a warm and loving welcome you'll give them AOG.
