as D97 suggests, just because this invoves someone lying down as they are and being still, does not mean that its had any connection to slavery and any racist basis.

It is nothing to do with slave ships, and is definitely not racist.

I absolutly abhor anything or anybody who is racist, but to all the people that claim that planking is racist and an insult to african slaves I would quite openly tell them to get a life! this is trying to find a reason to be offended about something when there is no reason.

Presumably the same people who are getting offended at this will soon be complaining about queues in shops because slaves were made to queue for food! the slave trade period was a dark time in our history and one that thankfully is long gone and will never be repeated but this is just a stupid over reaction to a harmless "game"

if that method was only used on black convicts, then that would defiantly be reminiscent of the slave days, and yes that would obviously be racist.

What I find most newsworthy here is that I am of a generation who have no idea what 'planking' is!!!

As for it being racist, that is looking for offence where none exists.
