Now...as far as I'm aware, Eastenders, Emmerdale and even The Archers feature prominent stories with gay characters and yet their ratings don't seem affected (even when the Daily Mail printed a made-up story about viewers' outrage at 'man-on-man' bedroom scene last month.

So what IS it with certain right wing papers?

Yes.....that the number of gay characters shown is NOT disproportionate.

I've just counted up the people I know on our street that are gay/lesbian/bisexual/cross dressers. I got 3 gay men, 2 gay women, 1 bisexual and 1 cross dresser, it's an average sized street and they are the ones I know about, I guess there's others that I don't know. I would say its a fair representation.
