After reading this very tragic case, I was surprised by the fact that this soldier who although suffering from a huge blood loss was flown back to England for surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Taking into account the long flight from Canada to England, for the serviceman's benefit wouldn't it had been better for him to be attended to, in a Canadian hospital?
I have not read the original source of the story in the Sun, but assume his life was saved in Canada. He has been flown back to the UK after his life was saved and it was safe to fly to have his wounds taken care of here.
