I don`t ever remember any of my friends breast feeding in public either. I personally don`t have a problem with public breast feeding but there is no excuse for not having a bit of discretion and modesty such as finding a private place or using a blanket. I went out to dinner a while ago and a woman on the next table got her boobs out at the table to feed her kid. I feel some (usually Western) women do it to make some kind of statement.
237 my sentiments exactly, babies were breast fed years ago too but never in public. It's today's society where they think anything goes and make sure it does whoever it may offend or upset and I'm not just talking about breast feeding but it all adds up to the same, blow everyone else I'm more important.
Its perfectly natural to breastfeed your baby so feed it next to me in the restaurant if you want . Then it also follows that when baby soils its nappy that too is perfectly natural so change the nappy next to me in the restaurant. It wouldnt do for baby to be uncomfortable. Its also perfectly natural for people to pick their noses so maybe you would also like to do that next to me in the restaurant. Oh was that some one breaking wind at the next table , never mind perfectly natural dont want you to get stomach ache. Urinating defacating all natural feel free. I am a woman with 2 grown up children and believe it or not 11 grandchildren. None of them have been fed in a restaurant and you know what, they never starved to death , they havent grown up feeling deprived and are perfectly well adjusted. It is blatent exhibitionism. Having a baby is a joy and feeding it is not just about nourishment but bonding and I think this is best done in private, People have managed for centuries without feeling the need to feed in public. Can I just add that I also think women should not go topless when sunbathing in public. All parts of our bodies are natural that doesnt mean we have to share them with the world.
Young woman, probably smoking, lobs her t1ts out, pushes an ugly face into the depths of the breast tissue, probably no responsible father in sight or on the scene at all looks around contented in the knowledge that she has "conceived" (probably too drunk to remember the encounter)....just tell me.....anybody...........what chance has that child got in life......what sort of education will it get?
Oh Sqad you are a cynic ;-)
Actually I tend to find (but I`m sure someone will disagree) that the public breast feeders tend to be middle class women. They`re the ones who`ve read all the modern parenting books and buy into all the ideas spouted about being able to do what they want so that little India and Sapphire must come first above all else. That`s why they have such badly behaved kids as well.

Personally, I don't agree with it in a cafe or restaurant. Where I live there is a cafe that allows breastfeeding mothers and as all the tables are quite close together, you find yourself not knowing where to look. I kept catching one woman's eye once (even though I tried my best not to) and I swear she was daring me to say something as she looked very smug and self righteous! It's natural I know, but why subject the rest of us to it? My mates and I won't go to that cafe again now.
