2 youngsters killed in Helensburgh

A 21 year old man and his sister (8 year old) burned to death in a petrol attack at their home. Parents are in a serious condition and are unaware of their children.

The young man was a promising young golfer. Tragic news, what annoyed me tho was the STV news coverage said their father was known to the police in the 1990's for drug offences. So what, he had been doing a lot of charity work in the area for at least a decade and the murder of his children doesn't merit a mention of his past imo

Judging from the picture of their home, the father wasn't a Mr Big in the drug world.

Alba, I'm not too far from Helensburgh. The dad had taken over one of the local pubs last year and was having it refurbished, but it was also burned down. I dunno the ins and outs, but it would look like someone has it in for him. How they can justify murdering children over some petty feud is beyond me. I agree though, his past is his past and shouldn't be brought up unless it is found to be relevant to the case.

unfortunatley if he has trodden on some drug gangs toes in the past then it looks like they have come for revenge,however the killing of innocent children is incomphrensible..looks like his past has caught up with him in the most of horrific circumstances...

i suppose they mention his past because it might provide a link to the tragedy. he has potentially been the 'victim' of a previous arson attack, and was allegedly involved in a stabing in february. all these 'clues' will hopefully catch the evil bastards who did it.
