I'm glad in a way, I always thought it was too sad.
bit like father Christmas and the tooth fairy, rather sad really.
The BBC tried to hoodwink us with a similar 'Petra-switch' on Blue Peter. Rotters!
"an academic has now discovered the legend to be fake after spending five years researching archives on the subject."

jesus, bet he's a right laugh down the pub.
I suppose it'll be Nessie next
and the Man in the Moon, oh why do they do it.
though of course there have been Astronauts on the moon, not sure that counts though.
oh lord, you haven't fallen for that story about men having got to the moon, have you?
Did they have the Daily Wail back then as it sounds like one of their stunts and I guess things have not changed that much?
it doesn't take 5 years of research to fathom out that the daily mail is a hoax.
Noooooo!!!!
I agree Jemisa, why oh why can't our dreams be left untouched, I do hope that the legend of Gelert will remain unsullied.( one of my favorites)

Because it's the truth?
Notice ;; his studies have suggested.;;
I do wonder where his funding is coming from for five years of such valuable research.

Ron, the tale was definately true :-) "Gelert" was of course an Irish Wolfhound and bred to kill wolves.
