Ooh poor didums in their hoodies. Its their ooooman rights innit ? You can't touch me man. Anyway as we have all heard on the news the cells are all full up! What a farce. It is now time to get real. Bring in the army. Shower the brainless idiots with permanent red dye. Ship them all to Siberia. Leave them there. Ban all hoods. Get a strong reliable police force, ours is a complete joke. Enough namby pamby politicians coming back from their holidays (what a shame) and sitting in their offices having meetings. Enough is enough. If the yobs want to fight send them to Afghanistan. The Olympics ?? ha ha ha I can't wait for the fiasco next year. This country has finally gone to the dogs. Whatever happened to our green and pleasant land ?

lol can you imagine that lot fighting for this country
"It's not the wording of the Act, but the way in which we allow it to be interpreted."

That's a different matter then. Possibly you should be gunning for the Judiciary?

I do agree, Judges like their old fashioned state laws, they like being the top dogs and having the HRA means they can be overruled. I think they are petulantly trying to push the political classes towards removal or similar by interpreting this in a way which isn't politically convenient.
AB Ed - if we could just have our own Bill of Rights, let our own Judiciary do their job, and have a Government which won't give in to the do-gooders, we'd have half a chance.
Can you give an example of the Government giving in to do-gooders? I can't say I remember an instance?
You conveniently forget quite a lot, it seems.
Where's Wallis when you need him? He should take you for a long walk, you're overexcited.
My point is our judiciary aren't doing their job. They shouldn't be attempting to make political demands - they are unelected and have no mandate for such things.

Are you a "do-badder" then?
I see the footies now cancelled on wednesday. I had plans involving cold beers and access to the TV remote for 90 mins. I think its only fair they should cancel Jeremy Kyle for a week.

Please remind me what I have forgotten then. Or can't you?
Venator, I would also like to know an example Govt. giving in to "do gooders". Or a definition of a "do gooder"? I would like to know what angle you're approaching all this from really and I can't understand unless you help me.

And I think you might mean 'Wallace'.
I use the term "do-gooders" to cover a wide spectrum of people, and I suspect that you have a good idea to whom I refer.

The pressure groups who spring up to "defend" people who are indefensible under the laws of this land.

The solicitors who make a good living by exploiting the HRA.

and so on and so forth. If you can't see them under your noses, take off the blinkers.
You're right, Gromit - I don't watch cartoons or whatever they are.
Gone for good mate, along with many peoples livelihoods, and their homes. I despise these scum, they are a disgrace and have brought shame on London and Britain.
venator

Still haven't given a REAL example.
I think they're the same people who would defend you if you were in need... I believe everyone has the right to a fair trial - a pretty basic requirement for a fair society don't you agree? You want to know the state isn't just chuck people in jail because they fancied it right?
I agree em. I don't think I can remember a set of riots like this...
the French don't have these problems?

Doesn't anyone here know any history at all?

All this is very similar to 1981. Same ingredients, same outcome, same contagion, same reasons.
No they wouldn't fight for their country, already said this ages ago, and no to National Service, ludicrous idea, why would the army want these miscreants, who wouldn't want to be there, and i'm sure would abscond at the first opportunity. Give them guns, train them in their use and then watch the fall out, what a thought,
