I've already said I have herpes. I had a cold sore about 20 years ago, the virus lies dormant and never leaves the system.

Also I can't see any avatars. I have images disabled on AnswerBank.
who cares how long it took her to leave the relationship. maybe she was in shock...maybe it took her a while to get tested/get the results....maybe she thought she was damaged goods and didn't think she would ever get another partner due to the diagnosis.

lcg76 said, judgementally.
same virus...but 2 different disorders with very different treatment, management, symptoms, public perceptions and stigma.
*safiya and hc - you are the most judgemental, narrow-minded individuals i have ever had the misfortune to converse with*

i'd post the handbag video but can't be arsed looking for it on youtube.... if you look back i said i didnt understand it and asked what it seemed to be saying in the report..... maybe you should get your facts right before judging people? oh and you didnt have to converse with me... i didnt 'talk' to you direct....
alright, safiya - maybe i was a little hasty in commenting on your post (having read it back it makes sense the way you have responded) and i'd like to apologise for my own comment. to you.

Facial cold sores are there for all to see so could be considered more embarrassing.
In fact facial cold sores can be transferred to the genital area by oral sex.
Herpes on the genitals can be the same type as a cold sore on the face, and vice versa.

It is extremely harsh, although one has to balance the effect that transmission has had on the victim.
I think it's a backward step in the sense that I feel it will make people less not more likely to own up to any sexually transmitted infection they might have.
I know someone whose new partner is HIV positive ( he told her before they began their relationship) but he really needn't have and some people's reactions to the idea are very very negative, so I can understand people's reticence in saying to soemone they've just met ' I have herpes/ HIV' etc.
There needs to be less stigma not more regarding such things.
cathfromaron, if people had got the message regarding safe sex we would not have so many illegtimate children in this country, I hate to think of the rate of the STD's in the community.
" herpesanddating.net " is a good place for herpes
you can check it out and find frnds there
To all of us who test positive for HIV/AIDS stay strong and don't let anyone put you down. I'd like to recommend you to try "herpesanddating.net", a safe and warm-hearted community for singles with STDs to connect with others in the same situation. No rejection or discrimination.
