Personally I have a very limited number of 'friends' - mostly family - and find FB and skype a really good way of sharing their lives. Some people are housebound so it's a good way for interaction with others. There's something weird imho though for wanting hundreds of 'friends' on fb.

That sort of comment I suggest comes from someone whose knowledge of Facebook comes from rumour, or the news.
FB is what you make it: stick lots of personal information on there and don't bother to check who can see it but then don't complain about "privacy".
Properly used, I think a medium where everyone is "who they say they are" is a lot safer and better than one where everyone is anonymous (I'm not having a go at AB here, as AB fulfils a particular function and anonymity is not an issue).
It depends what you use Facebook for: I use it mainly to keep in touch with distant family and friends and find it highly useful. It has actually brought us all closer together.

If I went on TV and incited people to riot in Warrington, the broadcaster would be severley criticised for giving my extreme views an audience, and would probably be finec
Yet if two idiots do this on FaceBook, then this unregulated site, gets no criticism, even though they are the means by which the incitement was publicised.///
Firslty, there is a major difference between being on TV with an audience in the millions to posting something on a site when your audience is predominately just your friends numbering a few thousand maybe.
Secondly, not only did they get widespread condemnation, they also got jail sentences: http://www.bbc.co.uk/...d-manchester-14551582
I really don't understand how bullying on facebook works. If I don't like someone (or their views) I defriend them. I no longer see their posts. Easy

facebook's great! I met the love of my life thanks to facebook (looking at a friends photos and when I saw her I said her mate was fit.. and it started there..). It's a form of communication that incorporates e-mails, casual blogging and sharing photos, it's free, instant and hugely accessible, you can get mail wherever you are whenever it's ready and see photos of your family from the other side of the world.

I have 200 friends listed, many of these people I have never spoken to and don't actually know personally. May of these people just breed, keep or show Irish Wolfhounds, its like a huge worldwide community where we share experiences, stories, advice etc.
Are they all friends? depends what you call friends really, they are very nice friendly like minded people with a love of the same interests, that's good enough for me to call them a friend. Im sure there are plenty of pedants who would argue they are not friends, that's up to them. I have never boasted about the amount of friends I have but I do consider them friends.
