Just on the Beeb news, police have released this young lady, the one accused for injecting insulin into saline bags and taking out three people.

Ok, not enough evidence and the case remains open, but they go onto say that the medical contamination could have affected many more people and there may have been seven or more deaths.

However, they are not launching a murder enquiry......

Incredulous! How can this be????

Yes it left me rather dumbfounded DT...............
has she been in custody all this time?
Question Author
One would think so, em - three dead/(murdered?)
i bet the families are really angry. I know i would be.
Question Author
I would be hopping - and now 4 more potentially......ought to be a full blown murder enquiry....or manslaughter.
a proactive investigation, i bet.
Question Author
so:-

(i) "she didnt do it"

(ii) "we have no idea"

(iii) why did the Beeb say it was no longer a murder investigation

(though I am sure the Manchester police will be "continuing enquiries" - are we seeing the beginning of another Shipton case that came from 'up the road.')
what was the evidence against her? we do not know. she was in prison but was she guilty ? is there any new evidence ( or lack of it )
not she didn't do it, but we don't have enough evidence to prove she did. (Amounts to the same thing in the end, but obviously they had enough suspicion to arrest her in the first place.)

But police are still investigating.

They are saying not enough evidence to charge her with anything but they seem to be making it obvious they think she did it
Question Author
seen her solicitor's statement? Total denial......
the police have enough evidence to convince them she did it - but not enough to convince a jury, presumably. Perhaps the police are too easily persuaded.

If so, the guilty party is still out there somewhere.
A policeman friend of mind is working on this case. I was talking to him on Monday and he hinted that it was another Shipman (he was on that case also) and there are more unexplained deaths. They believe they have the right person, but he said the killer had been really clever and it was almost the perfect crime. Hopefully, I will ge able to quiz him sometime over the weekend.
Unfortunately shes innocent until proven guilty. She hasn't been proven guilty and the police seem to lack enough if any evidence to prosecute her.Should we expect a claim for compensation by her? After 6 weeks in jail and no evidence i would assume she will seek compensation of some sort.No matter what the police suspect she is innocent and appears that she isnt being investigated any longer.
So the CPS think there is not enough proof that it was her ?

Well ... WE know better, don't we.

We've read the tabloids, and the investigations by inebriated tabloid hacks are WAY more reliable than the investigations carried out by the Police, and the Crown Prosecution Service.

If the raggy tabloids think she's the culprit ... then she MUST be !!

Burn her !!!
Another no win situation for all concerned.
What does "another shipman " mean? As far as im aware dr shipman is the only british dr ever convicted of murdering his patients. He never admitted his guilt but was convicted because the evidence got him caught.
Surely the difference is these patients could have been killed by any one of a number of people whereas dr shipman administered the lethal doses himself.
If there is insufficient evidence to keep her on remand, how was she put on remand in the first place? Surely they don't just lock people up in the hope that more evidence will materialise before the trial, or am I missing something.
