armed police guard
a 1.4 mile ring of steel .roads blocked off and streets closed.
another edl march in manchester , NO this time it is the tory conference.
1000 police officers will be on duty each day of the conference, police have been drafted in from merseyside, lancashire, west yorkshire and cheshire.
if you live up here and have any trouble getting hold of a copper nip down into manchester town centre they will be mixing with the tory scum who will be claiming expenses for a nice hotel and some good food.

As to Tory scum, wouldn't you say that's harsh considering how many ordinary folk support them, you label them like they are monsters, not a political party. If you have trouble getting hold of a policeman suggest you contact your MP.
they could have the conference at the nec birmingham , lot easier to police and built for that purpose.
they are expecting over 35,000 decent people to march on the streets of manchester to protest at the cuts the tory scum are making
more streets and more roads will be blocked while these decent people make there peaceful protest at the cuts
neighbours have had trouble getting hold of the police to attend an incident and with the job cuts it can only get worse em

DF, you have this thing about tories and the cuts, but what would Labour have done in the circumstance, seen the error of their ways, and started making the necessary changes, Ed Miliband has admitted as much recently,
there may be a reason why they chose this venue, it wasn't just so they could pee you off. People are entitled to march, so if this blocks roads so be it.

DF i have had a look at the BBC news, and it would seem that the demo will include Bob Crow and Len Mccluskey of Unite, so it's not just joe public, but Union leaders and more besides, and the reason for the abundance of police officers, is that they are worried about the demo being hijacked by extremists. If you lived here in the capital, you would have to put up with this a lot of the time, roads closed because of some march, demo or other. Lost count of the times got stuck on bus trying to go a mile or two. Perhaps they could have gone elsewhere, but people like yourself will complain wherever they go.
I think all political conferences should be held aboard a rented ferry-boat or cruise-ship, protected by what little is left of our Royal Navy and RAF...surface-vessels, submarines, fighters, helicopters, frogmen, whatever. It could be billed as a three-day military training exercise and inconvenience no one.

That is typical language from the Left.
We live in a democratic country and everyone has a right to choose from all sides and centre of the political spectrum, which political party they wish to follow, without the likes of DrFilth (he even chose that username himself) calling them 'scum'.
Perhaps he would prefer to only have one political party, (the one he supports),and we all know that is called a 'dictatorship'.

And how is that any different from the Labour conference in Liverpool this year?

The labour party stayed in nice hotels and ate good food, all on expenses, just the same.
You must have known the conference was planned - why didn't you go away for a few days if it upsets you that much?
Or at least stock up on groceries so you can stay indoors with your curtains drawn.
Think of all the money and business it is bringing to Manchester. The Home Office is meeting at least half the costs of security.
The NEC wasn't purpose built for political conferences - it is the National Exhibition Centre.
