The British PC passport.

So now instead of Mother and Father being entered on passport forms, we are to have 'Parent 1 and Parent 2' to suit same sex parents. I wonder if the 'female lobby' will now demand that Parent 1 will have to be the female?
/// The decision follows the revelation last month that details of the holder’s sex could be erased from all passports to spare transgender people from embarrassment.///
Since it seems that very tiny minority groups can lobby to alter certain things, could not the vast majority of English lobby to be named so, rather than just British?

A purely practical issue
You've got a same sex couple who've adopted a child, or had a insemination or surrogate - Which one gets written into Father and which one Mother if there's no change?
Oh sorry I forgot - They shouldn't be allowed to should they?
they are filthy abominations in the eyes of God and should be whipped untilk they're straight

It`s hardly a problem and it`s only on the application form anyway. When I was reading that article it reminded me of how they always ask for Miss or Mrs when a female applies for anything. Now, that irritates the hell out of me. What difference does anything make if I`m married or not. They don`t ask men their marital status.
No, they are not "...filthy abominations in the eyes of God and should be whipped untilk they're straight", jake. Even I, the rabid right wing bigot that I am, would not say that.
But I would suggest that adoption organisations, one of whom recently denied a couple the right to adopt because the gentleman had smoked two cigars in the previous 18 months, look carefully at the general suitability of same-sex "parenthood". What is unarguable is that nature has determined that parenthood requires one parent of each gender and we might be wise to consider carefully why we have evolved this way.

I think conception usually leads on to parenthood, jno. At least it does in the natural order of things.
It somewhat intrigues me that adoption organisations try to ensure the best possible conditions for the adopted children, even to the extent that two otherwise perfectly suitable would be adoptive parents are turned down because one of them smokes the occasional cigar. But on the fundamental issue of having one parent of each gender, which is what nature has determined as the most suitable model, there is no disparagement whatsoever.
I know that adoption is not a naturally occurring condition. But those responsible for administering it have a duty to the children in need of parents to ensure that their lives are made as natural as possible. Same-sex parenthood is not available naturally. As with most things decided by nature, this is probably for a very good reason and we should tread very carefully before we deliberately go against it so blatantly and so unnecessarily.
