Mister Cameron has now blamed the consumer for the high cost of heating our homes. it appears that we should all change to another cheaper supplier. what happens when you are with what you think are the cheapest and you still cannot afford the prices? is this the "old eton boys act" or is fuel really expensive because of the japanese nuclear power disaster? So, older people, some who have no computer will get a letter telling them to change suppliers (
over a million letters, postage cost unthinkable) but winter fuel payment cut. I am not a labourite, but it does worry me that the rich elite are ruling the country and treating us like children/peasents.

. . . and now most of the energy suppliers charge you £50 if you move to another supplier.
an increasing amount of Natural Gas is being moved in liquid form, hence setting a more and more global market for the gas out there. The UK has signed long termed contracts but, like any such contract, there are inflators and deflators set to the marginal (spot) price of gas.

Then, owing to massive under-investment in the power industry so admirably sponsored by Blair and Brown and their inept henchmen, the UK needs to substantially upgrade their power capabilities - i.e. buckets of money required.

So if we want power-out risks, then let's not invest. How eminently sensible.
It isn't anything about toffs and peasants, rather the crass short-termism of the last government and the amount of money that wan't being put into the infrastructure by the majors under that government....as they pushed to meet all their dividends to their shareholders and their pension-gaps, so well encouaged by early Blair times.

Thanks, Tony and Gordon for your moribund leadership. We owe you one - a treason case perhaps?

Sorry,
Didn't maggie sell off our oil wells and anything else that we had?? It does annoy me when every tory ends their speech or interview with " we are trying to sort out the deficit that we inherited from labour" yes, o.k. what are you going to do about it, as so far the tories have raised unemployment, done absolutely nothing to help the ecomomy ( training centres, get the idle back to work, where's the jobs??? no money in the economy, no jobs, downward spiral) it appears that the tories listen to " pub talk " and think that all the people on the dole are sitting at home watching videos and drinking lager, having a whale of a time on benefits. really time that people truly understood that the tories look after number one and their mates. How long, another 3 years, even the reasonably well off will suffer, but the ultra rich will be laughing all the way to the bank.
lets hope none of our elderly relatives die of cold this winter.
With all services, price is not always the prime issue. I'd rather stay with a company I feel comfy with than try to save a few pennies.
I can't see the point in changing supplier!....they say your monthly direct debit will cost less, and they do, for a few months, then you find that you're not paying enough to cover your bill, so they hike up your payments to what they were with the previous supplier!.........what's the point!............
These suits will meet discuss and take about a penny a day off our bills .PM delighted with result .Companies claim lost revenue back in tax .The fuel prices are on the back burner for another 5 years seen it all before.
in the old days when you had no money to buy coal you would burn scrap wood to keep warm

what do you do when you have no money to pay the gas or electric.

the modern answer is, if you are old enough and have a free bus pass you go and sit on a bus for part of the day
until they take them off us too Dr F :-(
Now we flush out old-wos's true politics - an Arthur Scargill dinosaur.
Drfilth!..........sad but very true!..........
burningh scrap wood, now you will be done, no doubt, for increasing the UK's CO2 levels.....
the arndale centre in manchester removed most of its seating not because of yobs or hoodies

but because old folk were sat on them most of the day to keep warm and were not spending any money
can believe it Drfilth!...so sad that they feel the need to do that!.....this country is going to the dogs!.........
In spite of the poor investment policy of the energy giants and government the unit price of fuel is low in U.K. relative to Europe. It would have been better still had gas not been squandered in the "dash for gas" initiated by the Thatcher Administration.
Personally, we have a highly efficient wood burning stove and access to free seasoned timber (excluding my labour of cutting and stacking).
went to the dogs ages ago, now its the coyotes.
there goes the national CO2 quotas, seadogg. Can I trade on your position?

you could light the fire with the free Co2 leaflets
Edwina Currie was on Radio five last night and said she didn't believe that some people were faced with a choice of heat or eat. How little she knows of the real world.
one who use to post on here has a brother who is a tree surgeon and guess whose house is never cold in the winter
Well,I must be a Dinosaur because I agree with everything ol-was-his-name says.
