No, Jake and co I'm not saying there should never be an inquest. In this case though there is nothing to inquire about. Police shot armed robbers before they themselves shot someone. Pretty cut and dried I'd say.
<<Police shot armed robbers before they themselves shot someone.>>

That is what needs to be officially confirmed - hence an Inquest. It's not something a properly ordered society can cut corners on.
Perhaps this report dated October 2008, gives a much more in depth outline of the crimes carried out by this savage (yes savage Boxtops) gang of criminals

/// The footage captured the drama when the 18-month crime spree by Nunes's gang, which had netted £500,000 in security van raids across the South of England, came to a catastrophic end.///

/// Nunes after being released from prison for similar robberies, he quickly began recruiting for his gang among criminal networks in South London. ///
i am neither here nor there on the op, but i always wonder why they can't be severly wounded instead of shot dead instantly.

maybe this is one of the questions for the inquiry.
The handbook advises against simply 'winging' a gunman, Ankou.

It's all or nothing, I'm afraid.
ah i see. is that because they might re-arm i suppose.

If you have ever been trained to use a gun, then you would know that you should aim at the greatest bulk of the body to bring your opponent down.

This generally results in a lethal and mostly fatal injury, aiming at the arms or legs to create a wound, is a hit or miss affair.

In situations like in this case, one cannot afford to take the risk of missing.
