According to the front page of the Express Angie reckons war is a possibility. Is this the twist and shouts declaring early or more hysteria?

OK I'll buy it who does the Expess think is going to invade and who i getting invaded.

I'll be very disappointed if muslims don't feature in this theory somewhere
I'm surprised that the Mail/Express haven't mentioned the threat from the resurgent Meghreb Islamists. They might launch an attempt to take back Spain.

Oh oh - I'll bet it's us!

The 2.5 million muslims in Britain are going to invoke Sharia law take over the armed forces, make us all wear beards (even the women) and long white shirts and then invade France!
Shame R1Geezer isn't still still about. Him and Kayless have sooo much in common :-)

Well It's the German Chancellor that is saying it not the Express, they are merely the messenger.
what she said

“Another half century of peace and prosperity in Europe is not to be taken for granted. If the euro fails, Europe fails. We have a historical obligation: To protect by all means Europe’s unification process begun by our forefathers after centuries of hatred and blood spill. None of us can foresee what the consequences would be if we were to fail."

And that's just the Express version (and shonky translation, I suspect). She just says war is never impossible. Pretty much a truism.
The Hun are still a danger.

If we withdraw from europe and stop buying their cars and trains they'll invade and force us to drive vw's at gunpoint.

Never mind the Dagoes and Froggies.

Seriously, my late father who was of the WW2 generation always said whatever else we think of the european union, don't underestimate its value as a way of making wars within europe less likely.
I agree myself. The fundamental triumph of the EU is that we haven't has a war for a long time!
I think that was the point of the EU - tie France (especially agriculture) and Germany (especially industry) so close they could never afford to go to war again. (They'd had more wars in the previous century than just WW1 and WW2). It has inded worked.

France and Germany don't war, Germany just rings up and makes and appointment to come to Paris!
Maybe the Islamic hordes in Turkey should have another go at Greece, as they are unable to afford a peashooter never mind any proper weapons.

They got as far as Vienna the last time they tried. ^^^ And Spain is ripe for attack too. A pincer movement on all we cherish.
Yes, well Blair and Brown gave up what we had been fighting the Krauts for with a sweep of a pen. Hitler must be laughing his c*ck of (and one ball).

These "Balkins" Trigger, are they near the Balkans?

that is so the eurosceptics tow the party line. You can hear them now, "look if we don't all belong to one strong group, lets call it the European Union, then
as like as not, we will go to war, just as we did in 1914-1918 and 1939-1945, now we wouldn't want that to happen again, so lets all be pals together and we won't have to fight no more. Rollocks
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

George Santayanna
"Yes, well Blair and Brown gave up what we had been fighting the Krauts for with a sweep of a pen."

Eh?
