Are these the Thugs that the police turned out in force complete with their dogs to arrest, seem like two nice decently dressed boys.

This was just to counteract the fact that they had to take action against the Muslims Against Crusades.
Notice the different reports from the London report to the Guardian one, which was also quoted by the Daily Mail.
Was it to prevent them taking action against the 'unclean' outside St Paul's or was it because there may have been some Muslims around?

Sounds a little draconian, unless many will (as I suspect) be de-arrested once they were well away from the Cenotaph, having initially been arrested in order to prevent a breach of the peace.
Could be a nice little earner for those in the law business who like to take on the Met.

sometimes you wonder whether there is one rule for one, and one for another, however perhaps they should arrest them all, MAC, and EDL, for no other reason than they are all stupid. Then those who want to pay their respects to the fallen, at the Cenotaph, Royal Albert Hall, and anywhere for that matter can do so in peace.
Thing is em the EDL, despite their political stance don't commit such vile and inflammatory acts as burning poppies, hence they make themsleves look as if they are better behaved and more civil than MAC.
I know the poppy is not a religious symbol so there isn't really a comparison but imagine if the EDL had burnt the Koran last year in reprisal? There'd have been a riot!

The Metropolitan Police said: 'A group of members of the EDL have been arrested in Central London to prevent a breach of the peace which was likely to occur elsewhere in London.'
Likely to occur, that seems to be a good enough reason, for using such a large number of police resources.
/// The Guardian reported that those arrested were thought to be aiming for the St Paul's camp. ///
So that's it then, if the Guardian thought that, it must have been true.
Incidentally it was 2 hours after the wreaths were laid.

How long did you take to come up with that spin, Mr AOG?
The MAC protest was (probably rightly) banned and the organisation claims to have disbanded.
You may refuse to believe it, but the dogs in the street know the EDL is a rag-bag extreme right-wing, racist "organisation" with a fair number of thugs in its midst, as members or hangers-on. The defence that several hundred of them had gathered in local pubs just to "honour our glorious war dead is naive in the extreme.
So, maybe the police did over-ract, as arguably they also did against the student demo yesterday but, given the above, I'd reserve judgment on that allegation for now ...

Contrary to the spin you continually try to use to defend the facist filth that is the EDL AOG - the police do not tend to arrest people for being smartly dressed. Maybe there was some other reason?
It's not as if, with the EDL mobbing around to protest against an organisation that was banned yesterday (but they still feel the need to turn up and object to foreign bar staff and start chucking stools around) the police had nothing else to do, is it?
