By "these nutters", I assume that you mean UKIP and the Daily Express.
Even the Express finally admit in their article that "EU spokesman David D’Arcy said last night: “Of course drinking water is essential for health and the commission is not stopping anyone from saying so."
.. I hesitate to introduce a factual (if boring) note here ...
Dehydration is a potentially life threatening condition - often caused by severe diahorrea.
Treating a dehydrated person with pure water is potentially dangerous and may actually worsen their condition - re-hydration should be done with a properly balanced electrolytic solution (eg dioralyte) which is balanced mixture of salts and sugars.
In an emergency you could use a home made preparation of :
* 30 ml (6 level tsp) of sugar
* 2.5 ml (1/2 level tsp) of salt
* dissolved into 1 litre of clean water
Any suggestion on a bottle of pure water that it can be used for 're-hydration' is utterly wrong and the EU doctors are correct in banning such advertising.
The Express is (as so often) banging on with a knee-jerk anti-european agenda - without either checking the facts, or appreciating the harm its mindless posturing may cause.
