Bombardier wins new contract
But it needed £80million of taxpayers money to beat the competition.

Money well spent, or propping up a failed company. Margaret Thatcher famously shut down uneconomic industries. Is this one we should no longer subsidise with taxpayers money?

Margaret Thatcher truly ruined this country in every aspect from the decline of manufacturing to the overall breakdown in society. She was pure evil. I personally think pumping 80 million of taxpayers money into Bombardier is a mere drop in the ocean when you consider the amount of our money that has been put into toxic debt thanks to our greedy bankers.
How on earth can Thatcher have ever left this country in a better state than any other PM? We have no affordable housing for the young because the sillly bitch sold all of the council houses off. We have no car manufacturing, ship building, fishing industry............ the list goes on but there are only 4000 characters in this box !!

"Margaret thatcher left this country in a far better state than Tony and Prudence"
She sold state owned utility company's that had been paid for by the British people to foreigners costing, and still to this day costing this country, billions - she destroyed the manufacturing industry, in her rabid desire to destroy the unions but at the same time strengthened our ties to the EU.
You lovers of Thatcher really need to look at her "legacy" and not tow the line

She got millions of people into debt by letting them own their own home.Or should i say by letting them get into debt , as the homes don't belong to them until the mortgage is finally paid they belong to the lender. Some people fail to realise this and think they own the house not realising the cost.As the huge number of repossessions show. Of course the lenders benefit from that too. Thatcher just encouraged the working classes to borrow far more than ever before. And her legacy is a country drowning in debt.
I find that when big tenders go round, if you go in at cost you will not get the business. The only way to get big contracts like this is to stick your neck out, take a chance and bid below cost and then beat your suppliers down if you get the contract. That's how it is in the private sector if you want to make a living. Think of that next time the public sector go on strike to have Candarel in their canteen or some other luxury the real world can only dream of.
i applied for a mortgage for my house in the late 80s. my building society suggested i could afford a much bigger mortgage, based on my salary. i declined their offer, because i did my sums, used my common sense and realised that i should live within what i could afford.as a result,i never had to worry about massive debt I got myself into. i have always used my common sense regarding credit cards too.they kept sending me letters that i could spend more, and to use my limit if i needed to. i reckoned that was for their benefit and stuck to what i could afford.as a result,25 odd years later,i'm not in debt, and have my own house and savings.
