Can anyone explain why eleven killer suspects in the Oxford Street killing have been released on bail, while the five arrested for the Salford killing are held in police custody?

Could the Salford investigation be more complex in nature? Perhaps the police need more time to question the suspects.

It is always odd how any killer suspect is out on bail, especially in such circumstances. I know innocent until proven guilty, but at what cost ?

I hesitate to say this, but could it be some form of racial discrimination? I believe the suspects in Salford are white and the Oxford St ones black.

Generally bail is given when there's sufficient confidence the person won't abscond.

I suspect in ths case it means there's not much evidence against them

Is it perhaps because the Oxford Street suspects are suspects merely because they were in the shop at the time (everyone is a suspect until eliminated).

To answer your question. The eleven were picked up before the five. They have 24 hours (it can be extended to 96 hours) to question suspects before charging or releasing them.

The eleven were arrested almost immediately on boxing day. The arrests after the Salford murder were later after the incident. The fifth suspect was only arrested a few hours ago. When they have been questioned, they will also have to release them (or charge them) after the same period.

The black suspects are poor and couldn't escape anywhere. The white one's have money and could skip the country. That's the way it always is.

in the second case the police have witnesses now they need to gather more evidence and get the gun off the streets

even you must agree aog that the police must try and get that gun off the streets before another poor innocent nice young man is brutally killed by savages who have no regard for the law.

It is being reported that the police believe the gun has been used in a previous shooting. But also the local community is very ashamed.

When does a 'Hate Crime' become a 'racist Crime'?

Surely if the killer 'hated' this poor chap enough to kill him, one has to ask why, did he have some other reason to hate him, rather than just the colour of his skin, i.e did he know him, did he run off with his girl friend etc, etc.?

If it was because of his skin colour then surely it is an outright Racist killing.

Which community are they talking about, if they are talking about the community around the murder scene, then this would be rather sparse I would have thought, taking into consideration the none residential area where he was killed.

Or are they talking about the Asian community, if so is the police fearful that feelings could escalate amongst that community?
