The Euro is having a bit of a flap at the mo, and it's at 1.20 plus.
It's not so long ago that I was buying them at 1.03!
The exchange rate may go even further (if you're brave, and want to edge the margins), but it can't stay that high. The UK trade position is not good enough to keep GBP this strong against the Euro.
If you use Euros a lot, like me, or if you're going away any time and will need Euros, or if you just fancy a flutter ... even with commission and the difference between buy and sell rates, I think you'd struggle to lose out.

You're quite right about the relative strength of Sterling, jayne.
But you need to factor into your "gamble" the very real risk to the currency as a whole when Greece officially goes skint (which some observers put at only a matter of weeks away). There will certainly be a period of severe instability following that event which may see the value of your investment taking a tumble!
