Why are there no 'gays' in football, but if there are, why do they remain closeted?

I'm guessing (!) ... it's because attitudes towards the gay community are a bit easier here than in some areas.

In some towns, the term "bandit" used as a reference to a gay person is seen as offensive.

Here, it's just seen as amusing ... "A bandit? Of course I am darling."

It's like fronting it up ...

You can't offend us with the expression "bandit", because that's what we call ourselves!

Attitudes are different here. We don't get het up or high horsey about things.

That's only my theory, obviously.

AOG - I was not being 'curt' - my point was entirely valid, I do believe that the answer to your Question lies in the link you posted.

If you felt i was curt, then once again we fall prey to the difficulties of printed exchanges as against verbal ones, where inflection and facial expression can convey the meaning of words expressed.

Do not swear at me again, it is disrespectful and unpleasant for others to read. If you repeat such discourteous behavour, I will report your post to the Editor.

If you consider the words 'damn curt' as swearing (they weren't even censored by AB) then all I can say you have led a rather sheltered life.

And why do you always have to bring others into your arguments? let them speak for themselves, but judging by some of the language on here the words 'damn curt' is almost out of a hymn book.

But I wont go into the matter further, but if you consider those two words as swearing, then report me to the ED if you must, but all I ask is that you speak for yourself and not for others.

AOG - it is inappropriate to use the word 'damn' on a family website, and I do so only in the context of your comment.

For one who makes loud and long protestations about the lack of courtesy and respect you receive on the AB, then such a response to myself, when we have debated long and heatedly, but without much rancour, for several years, is really not acceptable.

I am not 'bringing others into my argument' - again my point is valid. I work with telephone engineers, i assure you my life has been anything but 'sheltered', but that is hardly the point. Just because I know every slang label for every part of the human body does not entitle me to bandy them about in polite society. It is about time and place - and this is neither for such an aggressive tone of voice.

If you cannot show the courtesy and respect to me that you so vocifourously demand of everyone else on the AB, then you sir are a hypocrite and not for the first time, I shall cease debating with you unless a suitable apology is forthcoming.

Doubt it ankou - I haven't been in a fight since I was twelve, and I wouldn;t wish to start with a senior AB'er - or indeed any AB'er - but it's an interesting scenario.
