Appeared to be a clash of two "HUGE" egos !!
They got on like a house on fire. hello there myself
I wish I'd seen it as I love hearing both!  Unfortunately I fell asleep and heard only reference to it on the TV news this morning.

flaming

Galloway was on the lunchtime news a couple days ago he claimed they had set him up because they had a Scottish voter on and he said the respect party had no candidates in Scotland and it was no business of the Scottish voter to ask him any questions they also showed the clip of him praising Saddam the whole interview was one big argument brilliant television

Their eyes met accross a crowded room and natural urges took over.

Move away, nothing to see here.

Yeah, I saw that ITN one, I loved those two glib idiots getting a slapdown for once. I don't know the veracity of his claims, however, he insists that he was praising the Iraqi people and they misquoted this by showing him saying the praise to Sadam.

I loved his opening line "You're a bunch of LIARS".

"We just have some questions.."

"LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Look, it's our business to ask qu.."

"LIARRRRRRRRRRRRRRS"

Here's the Paxman one. BOILING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that MadgeB. I'm even sorrier I missed that part of the programme now, as I love hearing Tony Banks, and we'll probably hear him no more.  I did think to myself before nodding off that the Beeb's hospitality room had been working over-time, as all present seemed unsually reckless.  I do like both of them spatting away, but that opening question was not worthy of Paxman.  As Wedgie Benn says electioneering has become a bit tame.  Prospective and elected MPs used often to face a good cross-section of ordinary people, some quite hostile and heckly, in halls up and down the country.  The hustings once meant the MPs really had to argue their case.  I see from the remarks that the squabble got people going.  That's a good result, great. I like people getting stirred up .  Everyone has become far too cool, everything political is too stage-managed.  No interviewee is really unprepared for what is coming from Paxman or anyone else.  I have been to a few TV political debates and seen how buttoned-up it all is.  Politicians are usually let off hooks too lightly.  They are a wily lot and it must be heavenly  for them, only coming down from on high every five years.  I'd like to see more of the voters out on the streets protesting about things, in particular the appalling cost of government, whoever is in.   Paxman could have phrased the question better as he was  probably getting at how 'dirty' the campaign got down there.

It was lovely seeing two such gloriously arrogant men trying to get the better of each other.

The papers keep calling Blair arrogant, he's got nothing on messers Paxman and Galloway.

I thought Galloway was  scottish MP. Why did he have to come all the way to London to get a seat in parliment. Is there not enough people to fall for is trouble making, rabble rousing up there.

But  of the two my moneys on Paxman. Galloway stropped off as soon as it was obvious that here was some one else that didn't agree with him.

And then the man had the nerve to make out he had won the election and I think he actually thought he was PM.

I think some one needs to tell him hes only won one seat, and its not at number 10.

I've heard the 'scottish MP' bit a lot on the press surrounding this Galloway business, eupraxia. I kind of understand the sentiment a bit, it does look like he came down to play some kind of race card, but maybe he just wanted to stand for election where he had a realistic prospect of success? And I'm not entirely sure about the 'scottish' bit: it may be true, but it may at the same time be the broad status quo. Gordon Brown, Reid...etc.

I do find it quite funny that english forefathers fought a war against the scots for many a year over land rights etc etc, now scots are welcome to come down and run Britain..lol.

Not sure what's going on with Galloway's accent though.

Would love to know if anyone has access to footage/knows about what Galloway actually said 'when addressing Saddam' in full.

Totally agree with you flaming. One of my best mates got on the wrong end of Paxman on Universally Challenged. Not a pleasant experience. He did look pretty mad this time..

MargeB Your English Forefathers did not fight a war over many years with the Scots for land rights.  They shipped Scots over to Ireland and stole their land among other things. They were invaders so no change there then!!

Scots are hardly running Britain but being that Scotland is part of Britain as is Wales and Northern Ireland, this would explain why you have non-English MP's in Westminster it is the British Parliament after all, not the English one eventhough it feels like that most of the time.

Question Author

Hmmmm...:-)

Sure feels like Westminster is there for England.

Ah, England...the only British country without its own official parliament. :-) I don't think anyone would mind if they used Westminster as their unofficial base until it got something up and running.

Aah, the intelligent response I was expecting. Thanks for not letting me down MargeB
